Today, at the Ministry’s headquarters, Minister of Industry, Mr. Sefi Ghrib, received a high-level delegation representing SARL Automobile New Generation. The delegation included representatives from the Chinese company OMODA/JAECOO, which specializes in the manufacture of passenger vehicles and is affiliated with the Chery Group, as well as the Algerian partner, represented by the General Manager of the IRIS Group. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Industry, the meeting focused on discussing details of the passenger vehicle manufacturing project in Algeria, which aims to develop the automotive industry in Algeria by strengthening national manufacturing and increasing local integration rates in the field of passenger vehicles and spare parts.

During the meeting, a detailed presentation was given on the project components, which include the establishment of an integrated vehicle manufacturing plant. A roadmap outlining the project’s implementation phases was also reviewed, focusing on the technical, organizational, and investment aspects that ensure its success and sustainability.

This meeting reviewed prospects for expanding the project to export markets, particularly to African, Arab, and European markets, leveraging the factory’s capabilities and Algeria’s strategic location, thus strengthening the national industry’s position as a regional industrial hub.

In the same context, the importance of developing a national network of suppliers and subcontractors to secure the factory’s needs for components and spare parts was emphasized, while integrating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into the industrial system.

In addition, the possibility of installing Chinese industrial subcontractors locally was discussed, as part of the project’s expansion and supporting the production phases. This would enable technology transfer and enhance industrial integration between the two parties.

The two parties also emphasized the importance of transferring knowledge and technology, developing national capabilities in research and development, and training a qualified workforce.
