During the Le Mans 24 Hours weekend, the new Peugeot 208 GTi was unveiled, bearing a name that has been absent from Peugeot’s cars since 2021, as the French hatchback is now electric.
Looking at the technical specifications, the new Peugeot 208 GTi is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor producing 280 hp. This is unprecedented for a GTi version from the French manufacturer, and there will be no internal combustion engine in the car, at least for now.
Other technical features of the Peugeot 208 GTi include a limited-slip differential, a 54 kWh battery with a dedicated cooling system, wider front and rear tracks, a 30 mm lower body, special springs and shock absorbers, and an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Sport mode.

The Peugeot 208 GTi’s braking system has been improved, featuring 335 mm front discs with four-piston fixed calipers and recalibrated steering. The bold little Peugeot has a claimed range of 350 km, while the charging capacity is 7.4 kWh for AC and 100 kWh for DC.
The Peugeot 208 GTi has undergone a comprehensive facelift inside and out. The wheel arches have been widened with a thin red line, a nod to the 205 GTi. It also features a new front bumper with a large, sporty air intake, a rear spoiler to stabilize the rear of the car, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a new red body color.
Inside, the new 208 GTi features sporty front seats, an improved instrument panel with new red graphics and new custom displays, red ambient lighting, and an artificial sound emanating from the speakers to convey a sense of acceleration.

As standard equipment, the small French sports car offers satellite navigation with TomTom maps, a voice assistant, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, various driver assistance systems, and a digital instrument cluster.
The Peugeot 208 is a popular car in Europe and beyond, thanks to its attractive appearance and technical features. Many sports car enthusiasts are anticipating the return of the 208 GTi, which could be a good addition to the Stellantis range to boost sales.
