Fiat Celebrates 50,000 Vehicle Production at its Oran Plant

Stellantis Algeria announced in a statement on Wednesday that the Fiat plant in Tafraoui has reached a new milestone in its production journey, surpassing the 50,000-vehicle production threshold since its inception. This achievement reflects the pace of growth experienced by the industrial site, which was inaugurated in December 2023, and its growing role in supporting the automotive industry in Algeria.

Fiat recorded production of 17,000 vehicles in 2024, with this number expected to rise to approximately 60,000 units in 2025 and 90,000 units in 2026, reflecting the company’s expansion plans.

These successes are due to the efforts of 1,784 Algerian executives and workers who received more than 432,000 hours of training, a large portion of which was conducted in cooperation with the National Institute for Vocational Training in Belkaid (Oran).

The plant also opens its doors to trainees from six additional training centers in the region, where they receive regular practical training in specialties related to the automotive industry.

With this performance, the Tafraoui plant consolidates its position as a regional manufacturing hub for the Stellantis Group, confirming the group’s strategic commitment to supporting and developing the automotive sector in Algeria.

Furthermore, Fiat Algeria has stopped accepting initial orders for the Fiat 500 model through its official website, as it is the cheapest locally produced car at the Oran plant. This decision comes as a prelude to the discontinuation of this model and its replacement with a new model, the Fiat Grande Panda, which is expected to enter the Algerian market in late 2025 or early 2026 and is expected to be widely popular.
