In the Algerian capital, Minister of Industry, Mr. Sefi Ghrib, received representatives from the parent company of the Chinese brand Chery. This step is part of the government’s efforts to implement a strategy to strengthen the vehicle industry in Algeria and meet the needs of the national market, as a first step, according to an official statement from the Algerian Ministry of Industry posted on its Facebook page.
The statement explained that the meeting, which took place at the ministry’s headquarters, focused on ways to establish the Chery vehicle industry in Algeria, with a focus on supporting and developing a national industrial fabric characterized by technical and economic efficiency, particularly in the field of spare parts manufacturing.
According to the same statement, representatives of the Chinese company expressed their “full readiness to engage in the Algerian state’s ambitious strategy in this field.”
The Chinese delegation’s visit to the Ministry of Industry is not the first of its kind. Representatives of the Chinese brand Chery have visited the ministry several times, the first meeting being with the former minister, Mr. Ali Aoun. The stated goal has always been to establish a genuine vehicle industry in Algeria.
It’s worth noting that the minister promised to launch a genuine spare parts industry in Algeria, based on the country’s needs to supply the vehicle industry, and as part of the plan to produce vehicles locally.
For your information, Minister of Industry Mr. Sefi Ghrib had previously announced that he would begin the certification and conformity process for spare parts “early next week” as “the first step towards manufacturing in Algeria.”
