The Algerian Ministry of Industry is seeking to establish a local vehicle industry. Several delegations visited the ministry to present their proposals and investment plans in the field of spare parts and vehicle manufacturing in general.
On Thursday morning, March 20, a delegation representing the Chinese company Great Wall Motors (GWM), one of the largest car manufacturers in China under several brands, including Haval, Tank, and Poer, visited the ministry.
The visit took place at the ministry’s headquarters, where the minister, Mr. Seifi Ghrib, received them, accompanied by ministry officials.
The Chinese delegation presented details of the manufacturing project the company intends to launch in Algeria with its Algerian partner. This integrated project includes, in addition to vehicle manufacturing, the manufacture of spare parts, the establishment of a research and development center, and the establishment of a technical center for certification and accreditation.
The minister discussed with the Chinese delegation and its Algerian partner the mechanisms for implementing the project and clarified the necessary legal frameworks.

The visit of the Chinese delegation representing Great Wall Motors (GWM) is not the first. Representatives of the company have previously visited the Ministry of Industry, and there have been other visits by delegations from Chinese and international companies to launch industrial projects in the automotive and spare parts sectors.
The most recent visit was the signing of an agreement between the Ministry and local and foreign manufacturers to create a local spare parts industry.
