Renault has revealed the name of its new C-segment SUV, initially intended for markets outside Europe: it will be called Boreal, according to the French company, this model represents an important step in its 2027 international strategic plan.
After its debut in Latin America, Boreal will gradually be marketed in more than 70 countries, including Europe and possibly Spain.
Renault chose the new name for its range, derived from the French language, to highlight the brand’s roots, according to the company, this soft, harmonious term evokes the idea of escape and the discovery of new horizons, perfectly in line with the adventurous and cosmopolitan spirit that this new SUV aims to embody.
Renault Boreal will be based on three key elements: technology, prestige, and comfort. It is scheduled to be officially presented in the coming months in Brazil, where it will initially be produced, before being marketed internationally.
According to Renault’s preliminary data, the new C-segment SUV will be based on the CMF-B platform, which is already used by the recent Kardian, a B-segment SUV launched in late 2023 for emerging markets that shares many features with the Dacia Sandero.
Compared to the Kardian, the Boreal will be a step up in size, equipment, and content, and will target customers looking for a more advanced compact SUV.
Renault is seeking to consolidate its position as a leading automotive company in various segments, amid fierce competition from European and Chinese companies, all of which are seeking to capture new shares in the global automotive market, especially after the US tariff crisis.
