Fiat Panorama cars for taxi drivers

The Secretary-General of the Algerian Ministry of Transport, Djamel Abdelghani Didi, stated in a press statement that 50 new Panorama cars, produced by the Fiat plant in Oran, will be allocated to taxi drivers on a monthly basis.

He added that this measure is part of the Ministry of Transport’s efforts to renew the urban transport fleet, improve the quality of public service for citizens, and enable taxi drivers to obtain new, locally manufactured vehicles.

Although this decision appears to be a good step to improve transportation services and provide comfort for passengers, it will not solve transportation problems, as renewing taxis in Algeria requires a large number of vehicles, and the quota of 50 vehicles per month is insufficient.
