Fiat Algeria Participates in the Ministry of Industry’s Strategy to Combat Speculation and Brokerage in the Locally Manufactured Vehicle Market
On Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters, the Minister of Industry, Mr. Saifi Ghrib, chaired a meeting bringing together executives from the Ministry of Industry and representatives from Fiat Algeria.
The meeting was devoted to discussing ways to combat speculation and brokerage in the local manufactured vehicle market, particularly with regard to the Doblo Panorama.
During this meeting, Fiat Algeria announced its full commitment to the efforts initiated by the Ministry of Industry, by adopting a series of practical measures aimed at regulating the market and protecting consumers.
One of the most prominent of these measures is the adoption of a “commitment statement” signed by the customer upon purchase, in which the customer pledges not to engage in any form of speculation or brokerage, whether directly or indirectly.
The Fiat Algeria Directorate has also committed to providing all relevant data and information to the relevant authorities on a regular and daily basis, in order to combat this phenomenon.
The Ministry of Industry announced the launch of a digital platform to monitor the sale of locally manufactured cars, to combat speculation in locally manufactured vehicles, most notably the Fiat Panorama, which recently sparked controversy.
The Algerian judiciary has vowed to crack down hard on anyone manipulating the car market, particularly the Fiat Doblo Panorama, in the Algerian market. They will be subject to severe penalties of up to 30 years in prison.
These actions by the Algerian government come after it emerged that there is conclusive evidence proving that vehicle speculation has become an organized activity aimed at directly destabilizing the state, with premeditation and malice aforethought.
Algerian Minister of Justice, Mr. Lotfi Boudjemaa, issued strict instructions to public prosecutors across the country, ordering them to combat the phenomenon of speculation in the car market and to take action against anyone proven to be monopolizing or creating a shortage of vehicles, specifically Fiat Doblo cars, practiced by some brokers and car dealers.
It’s worth noting that the recent decisions by the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Justice came after numerous advertisements for the sale of the new Fiat Panorama car appeared, at a time when Algerian citizens are suffering from a near-total absence of new cars at car dealerships.
This has raised many questions about how new cars are being sold to people who don’t need them but want to profit from reselling them at double their actual price.
