Launching a massive tire manufacturing project in Oran in partnership with China

On Sunday, the foundation stone was laid in the province of Oran for one of the largest industrial projects in the tire industry in Algeria. The project was launched by Al-Hajj Al-Arabi Industries in partnership with the leading Chinese brand DoubleStar.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Omar Rekache, Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, Kamal Moula, Chairman of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, and Samir Chibani, Governor of Oran.

The project extends over an area of approximately 16.4 hectares, with an investment estimated at 50 billion Algerian dinars (approximately $380 million), making it one of the largest industrial investments in the country in recent years.

Massive Production Capacity and Product Diversity

The factory is expected to enter production by the end of 2026, with an initial capacity of 7 million tires per year, gradually increasing to 22 million tires in subsequent phases. The production line will include more than 130 different types of tires, including passenger and utility vehicles, trucks, agricultural tractors, and even military tires, reflecting a diverse range of specializations and the ability to meet the needs of both local and international markets.

Reducing Imports and Boosting Exports

The project seeks to achieve strategic objectives in line with Algeria’s new economic orientations. This includes reducing the tire import bill by up to $200 million annually, while achieving export revenues estimated at approximately $300 million annually. This project focuses on expanding into foreign markets as a primary focus.

Job Opportunities and Local Training

Furthermore, the factory is expected to create approximately 2,000 direct jobs and 500 indirect jobs, in addition to contributing to the transfer of knowledge and technology through specialized training programs, with full technical support from the Chinese partner. Production will also comply with the highest international quality standards (DOT and ECE), making it qualified to supply local automotive factories and provide Algerian consumers with a high-quality product at competitive prices.

A Sustainable Vision and a Focus on Research and Development

The factory is expected to transform into an integrated industrial hub, featuring a center for research, development, and technical testing, in addition to an integrated unit for recycling used tires. This step reflects the project’s commitment to environmental standards and industrial sustainability.

A Strategic Step within the Industrial Recovery Plan

This project represents a successful model of industrial integration and foreign partnerships. It reflects Algeria’s desire to reduce dependence on imports and enhance national production in vital sectors such as the automotive components industry. It also aligns with government efforts aimed at transforming Algeria into a regional industrial platform with high added value.
