The upcoming Leapmotor B01 electric sedan is expected to make a splash in the market, following the resounding success of the B10 SUV, unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show, the B01 combines cutting-edge design with a competitive price that could revolutionize the mid-size electric sedan market.
Based on Leapmotor’s Leap 3.5 electric architecture, the B01 sedan has similar dimensions and wheelbase to the Xpeng Mona 03 and GAC Aion RT. Production is scheduled to begin this July.
The B01 is one of the most beautiful smart sedans, featuring a streamlined design with a 17.2-degree roll angle. Its streamlined design achieves an impressive drag coefficient of 0.197 Cd, lower than the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S.
The exterior features a continuous light strip that extends across the front fascia, complemented by separate daytime running lights and luxurious black trim for a touch of luxury.
Eight body colors are available, including the distinctive “Morgan Pink” hue, which incorporates manganese elements to create a dynamic lighting effect in sunlight.
The B01’s interior features 88% soft-touch leather throughout. Available in purple or gray, the car features cloud-pattern leather and chrome accents on the air vents, armrests, and other touchpoints.
The car boasts excellent space utilization, with rear seats that recline to a 28-degree angle. The trunk offers a standard capacity of 460 liters, expandable by approximately 70 liters via an adjustable partition system.
The cabin features a 14.6-inch 2.5K high-resolution central control screen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155/8295 processors.
Advanced driver assistance systems are expected to reflect the B10’s advantages, with mid-range and higher-end trims equipped with LiDAR and Qualcomm 8650 chips. Battery options are estimated to offer a range of approximately 500-600 kilometers.
Leapmotor attributes its success to its understanding of customer priorities, especially among younger customers. The company offers cars with attractive designs and modern technical features unavailable from competitors.
Chinese automakers demonstrated at the Shanghai Auto Show that Chinese electric vehicles are a strong competitor, possessing a wealth of technical and design options, making the task more difficult for competing companies, particularly European and American ones.
