Nissan Micra will return this year as an electric car

The Nissan Micra will return this year as an electric car, a twin of the Renault 5. The fifth generation of this ultra-compact car will be one of three new electric vehicles Nissan will launch in Europe by the end of 2026, alongside the new Leaf and the electric Juke.

The first official images of the production version of the Nissan Micra show that it retains many of the design cues seen in the 2023 sports-oriented concept car shown in 2023.

The car was designed at Nissan’s European design center in London and will be manufactured by alliance partner Renault in Douai, France. It will share the CMF-BEV platform and technical underpinnings with the Renault 5.

Francois Bailly , Nissan’s head of European product, stated that their new electric car offers “ease of movement, but also a sense of excitement, because the Nissan Micra is a strong brand in Europe.”

Mr. François Bailly also added that the most significant obstacle limiting people’s adoption of electric cars is the purchase price, which is not commensurate with household income, daily expenses, and general living costs.

Nissan has yet to announce many details about its Micra electric car, but it appears the Japanese company aims to create a car that will appeal to people and meet their daily transportation and travel needs.
