Emerging Chinese brand Omoda has unveiled an all-new compact crossover SUV, which will be officially launched in October. It will be available with an electric motor, a plug-in hybrid, and a direct internal combustion engine.
The Omoda 3 boasts a distinctive and attractive design, featuring an angular shape and a sharp front grille resembling a shark’s nose, this design is common on more expensive vehicles.
Omoda aims to attract more customers with this very attractive design, which appeals to young people and those who love uniqueness.
Measuring 4,420 mm in length, the vehicle is only about 50 mm longer than the Omoda 5 SUV currently sold in Europe,Chery is seeking to position its Omoda brand to appeal to a wider segment of younger customers.
The presentation highlighted distinctive elements of the Omoda 3, such as the science fiction-inspired digital dashboard graphics, the “spaceship” noise option, and the ability to sync the Nintendo Switch with the large, vertical central touchscreen.
Omoda also promised a customization option called the “Official Racing Package,” as well as official body wraps.
Parent company Chery launched several new models at the Shanghai Auto Show, Omoda and Jaecoo are both subsidiaries of Chery, the number of new models from Chery’s various subsidiaries highlights the strength of the Chinese industry, which has become a major player in most emerging automotive markets.
It’s worth noting that Chery has announced the start of assembly of some Omoda and Jaecoo models in Algeria.
The Omoda 3 is the most important model to be assembled locally for the Algerian market, with other models to be announced after the factories are completed.
