The sudden departure of former CEO Luca de Meo from the French company has surprised observers, as well as the Renault Group leadership. The Italian businessman departs a company undergoing rapid transformation, just as the company has begun its transition to electric vehicles and launched several highly anticipated models, such as the Renault 5 and the new electric Renault 4, and the Alpine A390.
Press reports have indicated that potential candidates for the CEO position include Denis Le Vot, the current CEO of Dacia; Maxime Picat, the former executive at Stellantis, who recently left his company after the acquisition by Antonio Velosa; and François Provost, but there is no official word and these nominations remain speculative.
With Luca de Meo’s term officially ending on July 15, the process of selecting a new Renault CEO is unlikely to be completed by that date. An interim CEO is expected to be appointed next week.
