
Richard Yu, president of the consumer business division of Chinese automaker SAIC, told Reuters that its new electric vehicle brand, developed in collaboration with Huawei, will be called “Shangjie,” with the first model scheduled to launch in the fall.
SAIC explained in a statement that the two companies will cooperate in areas including design, smart cockpit technology, manufacturing, sales, and services. It added that the joint electric vehicle brand will have an operations and technology team of more than 5,000 people.
