Stellantis Algeria announced that the expansion of its plant in the Tafraoui Industrial Zone in Oran Province has reached 85% progress, following the completion of the installation of welding and painting equipment.
This achievement is a crucial step towards the transition to the CKD production model, which enables the assembly of cars from completely disassembled parts. This step will enhance local manufacturing and raise the level of industrial integration.
The company explained in a statement that this development represents “a pivotal stage in Stellantis’ industrial project in Algeria,” which aims to gradually increase the production and local integration capabilities of the Fiat plant. This plant is one of the group’s strategic projects in North Africa.
The statement also indicated that the expansion is in line with a broad national employment and training program, implemented in partnership with universities and vocational training centers. To date, hundreds of Algerian engineers, technicians, and workers have been recruited according to the group’s international industrial standards.
This effort reflects the company’s commitment to building a sustainable, efficient, and integrated national automotive industry.
At the end of its statement, Stellantis Algeria affirmed its continued commitment to supporting Algeria’s industrial sovereignty by providing qualified jobs, creating local added value, and continuing to develop the Tafrawi site into a strategic automotive production hub in Africa and the Middle East.
