Stellantis Group joins the second edition of the international suppliers forum in Oran

Stellantis Group hosted the second edition of its International Suppliers Forum in Oran on May 20 and 21. The event brought together more than 75 companies from the automotive sector, as well as local and international suppliers, to showcase Stellantis’ industrial ambitions in Algeria and the prospects for developing the local automotive sector. Over 200 participants attended the event.

The meeting, chaired by Samir Cherfan, Chief Operating Officer of Stellantis Group Middle East and Africa, was attended by Samir Chibani, Governor of Oran; Alberto Cutillo, Ambassador of Italy to Algeria; and Omar Reggache, Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency.

On the sidelines of this important event, Samir Cherfan, Stellantis’ Director of Operations for the Middle East and Africa, said, “We produced 17,000 vehicles last year, and our goal this year is to produce 60,000 vehicles, while next year we aspire to reach 90,000 vehicles in Tafrawi.”

Mr. Cherfan added that the plant will produce 25,000 Doblo Panorama vehicles, 25,000 Doblo Vans (utility version), and 10,000 Fiat 500s. The upcoming model will be aimed at meeting family needs, larger than the Fiat 500, and will have five seats. He also indicated that Stellantis aims to produce this model with an integration rate exceeding 20% from the outset.

On the occasion of this event, Stellantis signed four new letters of intent for partnerships, notifying 12 suppliers to supply parts and components to its Tafraoui plant:

  • Martur for the manufacture of car seats
  • Boreem for the production of exhaust systems
  • Sigitwith the Algerian Holding Company for Chemical Specialties for the production of plastic parts
  • Silverton for the supply of loudspeakers

Thus, Stellantis intends to encourage the emergence of a local network of suppliers that will eventually cover more than 30% of the content of the vehicles produced at the Tafraoui plant, creating the first integrated automotive ecosystem in Algeria.
