Stellantis Group announced that it has halted production of its T03 small electric car, operated by its Chinese partner Leap Motor, in Poland and is considering alternative production options.
Last year, the partners canceled plans to build a second Leap Motor model in Poland, the B10 electric crossover.
This decision came after the Chinese government secretly asked automakers to halt significant investments in European countries that supported the European Union’s imposition of additional tariffs on Chinese-made electric cars, according to a Reuters report.
Poland was among the EU countries that supported the tariffs.
Stellantis owns a 51% stake in the Leap Motor International joint venture with its Chinese partner, with exclusive rights to export, sell, and manufacture Leap Motor electric cars outside China.
