On Wednesday, Minister of Industry Seifi Ghrib chaired a coordination meeting dedicated to finalizing the launch of the platform to monitor the sale of cars manufactured in Algeria.
Representatives from several ministerial sectors and relevant bodies attended the meeting.
According to a statement from the ministry, representatives from the Ministries of Industry, Interior, Justice, and Internal Trade participated in the meeting, along with representatives from the National Gendarmerie Command.
The meeting addressed the implementation of the recommendations emerging from the first meeting, held Monday, to study urgent deterrent measures to combat speculation, particularly those recorded regarding the Doblo Panorama, a vehicle manufactured by the Italian brand Fiat.
In this context, the minister reiterated the state’s commitment, with all its institutions, to protecting the Algerian consumer from the practices of brokerage and speculative lobbies and ensuring the transparency of transactions in the automotive market.
Images of the new Fiat Panorama have been circulating on various social media platforms and car sales websites, where the car was listed for sale at an inflated price. Many have wondered how these individuals obtained the car and offered it for sale, despite the large number of orders.
Mr. Mustafa Zebdi, head of the Consumer Protection Organization, called for reporting anyone selling the new Fiat Panorama, considering this action falls within the scope of the speculation law passed by the Algerian government.
Today’s meeting of various ministries with National Gendarmerie forces is a step to halt the resale of new cars manufactured in Algeria, especially after car prices rose to an unprecedented record high.
