The new generation of the 2025 Volkswagen T-Roc will be launched this summer, according to the latest leaks about the car. It will be equipped with a new full hybrid powertrain, the first of its kind for the German company.
Volkswagen introduced the T-Roc compact SUV in 2017 and received a radical update in late 2021. This update is necessary to keep up with its competitors in one of the most competitive market segments, a facelift or half-life improvement.
Volkswagen is expected to change its aesthetics, technology, and powertrains, and will not rely on electric vehicles, for which the ID family already exists, but on various types of electric vehicles, including full hybrid powertrains.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc’s powertrain lineup will be electric or hybrid. The company is likely to abandon diesel engines altogether, a powertrain that has been suffering from declining market share across Europe, or at least offer this type of engine in non-European markets.
Technical specifications for the full hybrid powertrain that will power the new Volkswagen T-Roc have yet to be revealed, but the company has a 1.5-liter mild hybrid engine that it may use in the car, or it will be used in less powerful versions. More powerful versions may also be equipped with the new hybrid engine.
Most European automakers are moving away from diesel engines due to European Union regulations that have increased penalties for vehicle exhaust pollution. Popularly, diesel engines are no longer as popular as they once were, prompting automakers to accelerate the process of replacing their engines with electric or hybrid ones.
