Algerian Minister of Industry, Mr. Saifi Ghrib, visited Jijel Province to inaugurate new and important industrial facilities and to monitor the progress of other projects.
During his visit, the Minister announced that he will begin the certification and conformity process for spare parts early next week as a first step toward manufacturing in Algeria.
This announcement follows the previous announcement of the launch of a national network for vehicle and automotive spare parts, which includes all local producers of these parts.
The goal is to develop these industries and support the automotive industry in Algeria by increasing national integration rates.
During his inspection of the various workshops of the Maghreb Company for High-Precision Mechanics and Industrial Maintenance (SOMOMI), the Minister stated that the implementation of the national certification and accreditation network for various industrial activities is the cornerstone upon which we must build an industrial base and, consequently, be able to properly integrate into the manufacturing process.
Mr. Saifi emphasized in the same context that “his ministerial department will support all stakeholders in developing their projects to achieve a truly national Algerian industry.”
Founded in 1990, Somoumi is one of the largest private companies investing in precision mechanics in North Africa. Its largest operation was the export of spare parts to Airbus in 2009.
Algerian Minister of Industry, Mr. Sifi, speaking about the creation of a genuine spare parts industry in Algeria, said that the ministry will support all stakeholders in developing their projects to achieve a truly national Algerian industry.
